H.A.#107 - “American South” - Growing up in the American South, I’ve more or less been on a (non-violent) Anti-Western Jihad since I was 7 yrs. old — when my mom told me what Slavery was.
So I’m seven years old in Knoxville, TN. I already had figured out that religion was fake.
Then we’re sitting in front of my mom’s law office. Aretha Franklin is on the radio. As one of her accountants — who happened to be Black — was walking in to work that morning, my mom tells me that White landowners in the Antebellum South owned Black slaves as human labour / property to build their Empire.
Of course, I couldn’t sleep for the next three decades.
And that cemented my realization that the world we live in is in fact run by maniacs.
"You’re telling me Michael Jackson’s ancestors were slaves, mom?" Yes.
"Antebellum," by the way, means "before the War" — in the case of "America," it means "before the Civil War." So that insidious country music duo known as Lady Antebellum that crosses over onto the Lite Rock station I have to listen to at work?…. They’re romanticizing — in their name — a time when Blacks were slaves.
